Three Undergraduate Students Honored at University's Annual Leadership Awards

Three School of Communication undergraduate students received awards at The Ohio State University's annual Leadership Awards on April 21. 

Emma Grubaugh, a junior Strategic Communication major, was one of the Outstanding Positional Leader Award winners for her role as Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) Ohio State Chapter president for the 2016-2017 school year. 

"I'm honored to serve PRSSA and humbled to have received this award from Ohio State," Grubaugh said. "My team and I worked hard to reach our goals for the chapter and I'm proud we all went above and beyond." 

Vincent Liu

Yang "Vincent" Liu, a senior Strategic Communication and Sociology major, won a Diversity Engagement Award. This award is sponsoredby the Student Life Multicultural Center and given to student organization programs that have demonstrated a significant commitment to fostering intercultural impact as part of ongoing efforts to create a globally engaged citizenry among Ohio State students. The award seeks to recognize the efforts put forth by student organization programs that create deeper understanding of diversity and social justice to create intercultural understanding and skill development. 

Daniel Rodriguez, a Communication Analysis and Practice major, was one of the Outstanding Senior Award winners. This is one of the highest honors received by Ohio State undergraduate students who excel leadership, service and scholarship. In his time at Ohio State, Rodriguez became the youngest president of the Speech and Debate team in university history, was a three-time president in the class honorary system and received the Susan M. Hartmann Mentoring and Leadership Award for his service as the head mentor and co-curriculum developer for the Latino Leadership Development Institute. In addition, Rodriguez published a book using his Second-year Tranformational Experience Program (STEP) grant. 

President Michael Drake spoke at the Leadership Awards Ceremony and Brutus made an appearance.
