Sterenberg receives Alumni Award for Distinguished Teaching

Congratulations to Assistant Professor of Practice Mary Sterenberg for receiving The Ohio State University’s 2024 Alumni Award for Distinguished Teaching, one of the university's most prestigious teaching awards. Recipients are nominated by students, faculty and alumni; 10 are chosen annually by alumni and past recipients. 

Sterenberg was recognized for her innovative teaching methods which simulate professional environments, integrating real-world skills into the classroom. She also coaches students in developing high-quality writing portfolios, invites communications professionals to  speak in class and routinely exposes students to internships and job opportunities.

Sterenberg has over a decade of experience in journalism and corporate public relations work and continues to stay active in the industry.

Sterenberg was notified of her selection during a surprise classroom visit by Senior Vice Provost for Faculty Patrick Louchouarn, Vice Provost for Academic Policy and Faculty Resources Helen Malone, College of Arts and Sciences Dean David Horn, Divisional Dean of Social and Behavioral Sciences Ryan King and Director of the School of Communication Kelly Garrett on Feb. 28.

Sterenberg will be honored with other 2024 award winners at a formal banquet on April 20.
