Schedule an Appointment

Due to the desire to limit the number of people on campus so that our students have the best chance to learn experientially, the School of Communication Advising Office remains closed. Our advising staff will continue to provide advising appointments by phone or CarmenZoom and will be available by email during normal business hours. Please see below for more information.

Advising Appointments

We are commited to helping students get the advising assistance they need while maintaining a safe and healthy environment for students and advisors. Advising appointments will be provided by phone or CarmenZoom until further notice. To schedule an appointment:

  • Visit OnCourse (preferred). Please indicate phone or CarmenZoom and include your phone number when scheduling an appointment time. Based on the information you provide, you will either be emailed a Zoom link prior to your appointment time or an advisor will call you for your phone appointment.
  • Call the advising office at 614-292-8444 to schedule an advising appointment.

Non-School of Communication Ohio State Students

Are you a current Ohio State student thinking of switching your major to communication or journalism?

Students are required to complete a virtual Major Information Session before scheduling an individual advising appointment with a School of Communication advisor. Students can declare pre-communication or pre-journalism at the end of the session.

See Declaring the Pre-Major for upcoming Major Information Session dates and times.

Prospective High School or Transfer Students

Please email to request additional information and to schedule an advising appointment. We recommend arranging your appointment at least 2-3 weeks in advance as our appointments fill quickly. Appointments are required. In addition, we encourage prospective students to arrange a virtual Admissions Overview and Tour to learn about Ohio State's application and admissions requirements.
