Slater receives honorary doctorate from University of Antwerp
Michael Slater, director of the School of Communication, received an honorary doctorate on March 29 from the University of Antwerp in Belgium. Slater, who is a distinguished professor in Social and Behavioral Sciences, received the honorary degree in social sciences.
Before receiving his honorary doctorate, Slater gave a masterclass titled “For human need, motivation, and goals-based perspectives on communication.” Slater’s research focuses on media effects on beliefs and behavior and persuasion processes, primarily but not exclusively in the domain of public health.
