On Sunday May 26, Mike Slater, Director of the School of Communication and Social and Behavioral Science Distinguished Professor, was honored with the 2019 Steven H. Chaffee Career Achievement Award of the International Communication Association (ICA). 

The Chaffee Career Achievement Award recognizes a scholar who has made a sustained contribution to communication theory and research over an extended period. It prioritizes theoretically innovative and rich scholarship that has inspired theoretical or empirical work of a large number of other scholars. By doing so the award emphasizes the long-term significance of the nominee’s work for the field.
