Assistant Professor Jane Shawcroft joined the School of Communications faculty in August, after receiving her PhD from the University of California, Davis. Shawcroft studies how technology affects children and their families in everyday life, looking at how things like family relationships, personal differences and the surrounding environment shape the ways families use technology. Her research focuses on topics such as well-being, how children develop thinking and self-control skills and how they build relationships with technology. To understand these areas, she follows families over time, using methods that capture both short-term experiences and long-term changes.
