My research centers on social implications of communication technology and newer media. I primarily use quantitative experimental methods to examine the factors that make people perceive online information to be more authentic, credible, and ultimately, more influential. My recent work focuses on (a) how people evaluate and are impacted by others online, and (b) how people construct and are influenced by their own online identities, specifically in the context of women's body image.
