Kristie Sigler is a scholar-practitioner with over 20 years of experience in communication teaching, coaching, and large-scale curriculum design. An award-winning educator who received the Provost's Award for Distinguished Teaching by a Lecturer, she is a member of the Ohio State Academy of Teaching and serves as the AI and Pedagogy Project Lead for the School of Communication.
She teaches Business and Professional Communication and Public Speaking, focusing on practical, human-centered ways to integrate artificial intelligence. Her latest projects, SpeechBuilderGPT and Audience Angle, are custom AI tools that support ethical, audience-focused development of presentations by teaching students how to use AI to enhance critical thinking rather than replace it.
Beyond the classroom, Kristie provides executive speech coaching and consulting through The Presence Group, where she helps leaders and teams of subject matter experts communicate clearly in high-stakes moments. Her coaching is built on a single principle: the speaker is always the least important person in the room. That audience-first approach shapes how her clients prepare for board presentations, conference panels, partnership meetings, and cross-functional briefings where experts must translate complex work for those outside their field. Her clients turn expertise into influence when it matters most.
Kristie also leads faculty development through workshops, training sessions, and teaching observations that bridge traditional pedagogy with modern, AI-integrated communication needs. Her recent work guides colleagues through the ethical adoption of AI while maintaining high standards of instructional excellence across the curriculum.
This leadership builds on her role as the former course supervisor for Persuasive Communication, where she spearheaded the School's transition of large courses to online and hybrid formats, and edited two editions of the course textbook, Persuasive Communication. She also developed a graduate teaching assistant training manual through a university grant and has served as a STEP faculty mentor and advisor to student organizations.
Kristie co-founded SALT effect (Serving And Learning Together), a research-based platform for families focused on values, communication, and service. She earned her bachelor's degree and teaching certificate at Malone University and her master's in Communication from Ohio State.
