My research interests include two broad areas. First, my studies explore the role of the self in media processes, including selection, processing, and effects. Within this line of inquiry, I apply relevant theories and research to design communication solutions addressing the issue of women’s under-representation in STEM fields. Second, I propose and examine various message strategies, including narrative and framing, to overcome two major challenges in science communication: the lack of engagement with scientific topics and knowledge, and resistance to counter-attitudinal science information.
