The Ohio State University School of Communication mourns the loss of alumnus Ted Beattie, a former member of the school’s Advancement Board. Beattie (Journalism, ‘71) also completed a minor in zoology and received his master’s degree in public relations from Ohio State.
“The professors who are part of the school - not only during my time - really care about the students; they care about the significance of being a good, strong journalist,” Beattie said his donor spotlight. “Very specific professors made a big difference in all of our lives.”
Beattie had a rich career, serving as the president and CEO of John G. Shedd Aquarium from 1994 to 2016. During his time overseeing the Shedd Aquarium, he managed the renovation of some of the aquarium’s most popular exhibits.
The Shedd staff describe Beattie as a “pioneer and visionary” leader.
Beattie inspires journalists and serves as a role model in zoology and public relations.
