Throughout the 2021-2022 school year, School of Communication faculty and student organizations received awards for their teaching, research and other professional achievements.
A few notable awards include:
The Lantern
Ohio State’s student newspaper, The Lantern, was named the best collegiate newspaper in Ohio. It received the Frank E. Deaner General Excellence Award, the top collegiate award given by the Ohio News Media Association. Additionally, The Lantern received 12 other awards from the ONMA.
PRSSA
The Public Relations Student Society of America chapter at Ohio State received a Star Chapter Award from the National Committee for providing outstanding programming and relationship-building opportunities for students.
Nicole Kraft
Nicole Kraft, associate professor-clinical, was awarded the 2022 Alumni Award for Distinguished Teaching at Ohio State. She is one of only 10 educators to be recognized this year.
Additionally, Kraft was named the Linda S. Puntney Teacher Inspiration Award recipient by the Journalism Education Association.
Lanier Holt
The National Communication Association, a major academic organization in mass communication, awarded Lanier Holt, associate professor, the national Donald H. Ecroyd Award for Outstanding Teaching in Higher Education.
Hillary Shulman
Hillary Shulman, assistant professor, received the college’s Early-Career Faculty Excellence Award for the 2021-2022 academic year.
Matthew Grizzard
Matthew Grizzard, assistant professor, won the Mattox Award for research conducted in 2021.
Rebecca Frazer
The Ohio State University's Michael V. Drake Institute for Teaching and Learning named Ph.D. student Rebecca Frazer a recipient of the 2021-22 Graduate Associate Teaching Award.
