We are excited to welcome Miriam (Mimi) Brinberg and Laura Partain to the School of Communication faculty. The two are new hires for Autumn 2022.
Brinberg received her Ph.D. in the Department of Human Development and Family Studies at Penn State. She worked as a postdoctoral researcher, with her work funded through a National Science Foundation grant in the Department of Communication Arts and Sciences at Penn State. Her primary research interests include developing methods for intensive longitudinal data and applying these methods to the study of interpersonal dynamics. This includes both in-person and computer-mediated contexts, such as support conversations between friends or text message exchanges between romantic partners.
Partain received her Ph.D. in Media Sciences and Communication from Indiana University’s Media School in May 2021. She joins Ohio State from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where she worked as a lecturer for two years in the Comparative Media Studies/Writing Department. Partain is a scholar in intergroup and intercultural communication. Through research, she examines audience receptions of the U.S. and global media representations of marginalized communities This shows how these responses gatekeep marginalized peoples’ access to equal rights, civic participation and healthcare resources.
