Stecuła discusses growing distrust of scientists on NPR

Dominik Stecuła Headshot

Assistant Professor Dominik Stecuła was recently featured on an NPR episode sharing insights on the growing distrust of scientists in the U.S.

Setcuła explains that this trend has been increasing for decades, with the COVID-19 pandemic deepening the divide, particularly among conservative groups who view scientists as aligned with the Democratic Party.

Stecuła highlights how this skepticism is tied to a cultural attachment to traditional lifestyles and the rise of populism, which emphasizes distrust of experts.

While distrust of experts is more prominent on the right, Stecuła notes that the left also shares this skepticism, especially towards big corporations in the food industry.
