School recognizes grad students for research, teaching, mentorship, academics

School of Comm honors top grad students and faculty for excellence in research, teaching, mentorship and academics.

On April 24, the School of Communication hosted its annual end-of-year celebration and scholarship event for graduate students. Five students were recognized for their excellence in research, teaching and academics and one faculty member received an award for outstanding mentorship of graduate students. 

The Walter B. Emery Scholarship, the “junior” research award, was given to second year PhD student Yuxin Li. 

The “senior” research award, the Doris Gildea Moran Scholarship, was awarded to fourth year PhD student Blue Lerner.

The Albert Warren Scholarship for teaching excellence was awarded to fourth year PhD student Annie Dooley. 

The Outstanding Master’s Student Award was given to second year master’s student Leah Lindemeyer.

Assistant Professor Bingjie Liu was voted by grad students as this year’s Faculty Mentor of the Year.

The event also recognized Razieh Pourafshari as this year’s Peer Mentor of the year.
