The Ohio State University Marching Band selected Konner Barr, a rising fourth-year majoring in Strategic Communication, to be the new drum major for the 2018 season.

Barr competed in tryouts April 21 at the Lincoln Tower Park practice field in front of a judging panel made up of former drum majors and members of the band staff. He was the assistant drum major for the 2016 and 2017 seasons, and was a member of D-Row, the band’s drum major training squad, for the 2015 season.

Barr, from Gahanna, Ohio, started twirling competitively at the age of 6. He was previously the drum major at Gahanna Lincoln High School before coming to Ohio State.
