Nisbet Named USC Fellow

Erik Nisbet

Erik Nisbet, associate professor, was recently selected as one of 10 non-residential faculty fellows at the University of Southern California’s Center on Public Diplomacy. The non-residential faculty fellowship is given to scholars engaged in enriching the study of public diplomacy through research and teaching. Nisbet is among the first group of external faculty fellows to join the CPD.

Nisbet was also recently quoted in the Mother Jones article “How Putin is Singing Along with the Trump White House” discussing the similarities between President Donald Trump and Vladmir Putin’s communication strategies. Based on his research on electoral and Russian disinformation, Nisbet noted that Trump’s strategy is an “authoritarian, post-truth approach” that aims to diminish the media by raising questions and creating doubt.
