The Lantern Exceeds $10K Fundraising Goal

The Lantern Newsroom

The Lantern raised $10,724 in the inaugural Rivalry Week fundraising competition and journalistic partnership — the Rivalry Edition — with the Michigan Daily leading up to "The Game."

Exceeding the goal of $10,000 from nearly 150 donors, the fundraiser will help ensure that The Lantern's tradition of award-winning student journalism continues for years to come. The funds will help cover costs such as equipment, printing and distribution, travel costs and monthly stipends for editing staff.

“As journalists, it is imperative that we work together with our 'adversaries' as well as our fellow Buckeyes to uphold the profession and the integrity of our democracy. The Rivalry Edition enabled students working in business and editorial from both universities to collaborate in a fun, creative, meaningful way,” Sandy Hermanoff, founding chair of the School of Communication Advancement Board, said. "Who knows? It is possible that students from Ohio State and Up North may be working together in the future in the same PR firm, corporation, newsroom, nonprofit and/or other journalistic disciplines."
