Kraft Examines Empathy in Sports Journalism Amid NFL Press Conference Debate
Professor of PracticeNicole Kraft published an article inForbes examining a viral NFL press conference that ignited discussion about the role of empathy in sports journalism. She argued that while compassion has a place in reporting, the focus should be on asking thoughtful, well-researched questions that respect athletes’ experiences without sacrificing journalistic professionalism.
Kraft focuses her teaching and research on the use of mobile technology in journalism and education, with particular emphasis on how student-athletes can leverage these tools for academic engagement. She also serves as the director of Ohio State’s Sports and Society Initiative.
