Journalism Building hosts live broadcast of ESPN Radio

On the eve of the Texas–Ohio State football game on Aug. 29, Ohio State’s Journalism Building served as the broadcast site for ESPN Radio’s College Football Tailgate, hosted by Amber Wilson and Jonathan Zaslow.

The national show came to campus through the efforts of Mike Urrunaga, program director at ESPN Radio, and journalism professor of practice Nicole Kraft. It was supported by Bryce Heck, a student in COMM 3403: Sports Writing and Reporting.

Members of Scarlet and Gray Sports Radio also attended the event, observing the technical setup and discussing careers in sports media with ESPN staff.

“This was a chance to connect classroom learning with professional practice,” Kraft said. “They got to see how preparation, collaboration, and communication all come together in a live broadcast.”

By hosting the program, the School of Communication provided students with direct exposure to the industry, continuing its mission to create hands-on opportunities for aspiring sport media professionals.
