Associate Professor Kelly Garrett and Assistant Professor Robert Bond received a $100,000 research grant from Facebook for a proposal titled, “Measuring and modeling susceptibility to misinformation on social media.”

“We’ll use the money to conduct a series of surveys asking Americans about their beliefs about news stories that generate the most engagement on social media, including stories from both reliable and unreliable sources,” Garrett said.

The goal of the research is to learn more about how social media influences what people actually believe.
