Students in COMM 4635 present fundraising projects

Assistant Professor Hillary Shulman’s course COMM 4635 – Small Group Communication raised $6,458.85 for local charities this semester. The students also donated 779 pieces of art supplies to Make-a-Wish and 242 pounds of food to the Mid-Ohio Food Bank. Students in the course were assigned to raise money or goods for a charity of their choosing over the duration of the semester as part of their service-learning project. The purpose of the course is to work on a team while simultaneously learning about the fundamentals of teamwork in class.

On Nov. 13, student groups presented their organizations with the money and goods they raised in class. The class hosted a reception celebrating their efforts after the presentations.
