Chronos Lab Advances Media Research
Directed by Assistant Professor Teresa Lynch, the Chronos Lab is an active communication science research group in the School of Communication at Ohio State. The lab is dedicated to advancing knowledge about how people process emotional and social content in interactive media, with a particular focus on video games and other emerging media environments.
In May 2025, the Chronos Lab hosted Dr. Glenna L. Read (Ph.D., Indiana University, 2018), Associate Professor at the University of Georgia and director of the Brain, Body, and Media (BBAM) Lab, for an invited campus talk titled “Cognition and Emotion in Media Messages: Insights from Media Psychology.” The event, co-sponsored with Professor Rob Potter’s PANAM Lab, brought together students and faculty to discuss how media messages shape identity, emotion, and prosocial outcomes.
Through events, research and mentorship, the Chronos Lab continues to foster innovative scholarship on the intersections of communication, psychology and technology.
Graduate researcher from the Chronos Lab Annie Dooley advanced to Doctoral Candidacy in Spring 2025 and Matt Erxleben successfully defended his dissertation to earn his PhD in Summer 2025.
