Ohio State is in the process of revising websites and program materials to accurately reflect compliance with the law. While this work occurs, language referencing protected class status or other activities prohibited by Ohio Senate Bill 1 may still appear in some places. However, all programs and activities are being administered in compliance with federal and state law.

Professor Brad Bushman’s article “Developmental Changes in the Relation between Youth Disclosure and Parenting Behavior: A Cohort-sequential Analysis” was published in the Journal of Youth and Adolescence.

The study explored how children's disclosure to their parents changes as they grow into adolescence. The researchers used data from three groups of parents and found that as children get older, they tend to share less about their daily lives with their parents, regardless of gender or socioeconomic status. When parents consistently discipline their children and show less rejection, children are more likely to share information with them, especially as they become older. This suggests that parenting behaviors continue to shape the parent-child relationship during adolescence.
