Bushman on Gun Violence: It's More than Video Games
Researcher and professor Brad Bushman spoke on the factors that lead to gun violence after the August 4 mass shooting in Dayton, Ohio.
Bushman, in his decades of research, as found that "violent video games and certain personality traits are important factors in violent human behavior — but they are not the root cause of our nation's mass shootings."
He explained that personality predispotitions and accessibilty to guns are also important factors.
"Many people play violent video games all over the world, and hardly any of them become mass shooters. What's different in the U.S. is that people can easily access weapons to carry out those [violent] fantasies," said Bushman.
