Associate Professor Joseph Bayer received the 2026 Distinguished Early Career Professional Contributions to Media Psychology and Technology Award from the Society for Media Psychology and Technology of the American Psychological Association. 

The award recognizes Bayer’s contributions to the field of media psychology and technology and honors professionals who have made significant contributions early in their careers. 

Bayer's research examines how our minds and relationships are changing due to smartphone and social media habits, while also addressing societal concerns about digital well-being and technology addictions.
