Ohio State’s College of Arts and Sciences Career Services and Public Relations Student Society of America chapter co-hosted the 2016 Summer Internship and Opportunity Fair on Jan. 26. An estimated 1,400 students attended the fair, with the opportunity to shake hands and get to know representatives from 125 organizations.

The employers attending the fair ranged from Fortune 100 companies to small/local nonprofits and summer camps. This kind of diversity allowed students to gain perspective on what kind of organizations they would like to intern or potentially work with in the future.

The fair had a 15 percent increase in student attendance this year, according to Randy Dineen, career prep advisor with A&S Career Services.

“This fair is quickly becoming a very popular event for students of any major to attend,” he said. “We received great feedback from employers in regards to student attendance and student preparedness, which is a reflection on the amount of research students did before the event.”

With this kind of success, it can only be assumed that the next internship and opportunity fair will continue to increase in popularity.
