Ohio State is in the process of revising websites and program materials to accurately reflect compliance with the law. While this work occurs, language referencing protected class status or other activities prohibited by Ohio Senate Bill 1 may still appear in some places. Research shows expressing anger only intensifies it

Brad Bushman

Professor Brad Bushman's research was highlighted in a recent Ohio State News article "Chilling Out is the Best Way to Manage Anger."

The study examined whether expressing anger actually helps reduce it or if it has the opposite effect. Traditionally, many believe that getting out frustration is a good way to relieve anger. However, Bushman's research challenges this concept, showing that expressing anger often intensifies it rather than alleviates it.

The study also explores more effective ways to handle anger, like cooling down. Bushman's research emphasizes that staying calm leads to better emotional control.
