Assistant Professor Mary Sterenberg has won the Public Relations Student Society of America Faculty Advisor of the Year award, presented by the national PRSSA organization. Sterenberg received this award at the PRSSA International Conference in Dallas, Texas, on Nov. 14.

Sterenberg has been an advisor with PRSSA since 2011 and during her time as an advisor, the chapter has consistently earned the Star Chapter status, growing its membership and mentoring programs. 

“Being nominated for this award by my students for recognition nationally feels really special,” Sterenberg said.  “I love doing everything I can to make Ohio State students’ experience in PRSSA one that builds friendships, a professional network and the skills to jump into their careers with confidence and excitement. It means everything to me to see that my students really know how much I care.”

PRSSA started annual networking trips that have taken students on multiple trips to NYC as well as Chicago and Washington, D.C. The student organization is also hosting the second district conference this spring. The chapter has more than 100 members, making it one of the biggest chapters nationwide. PRSSA holds weekly meetings, bringing professionals to share experiences with students, and a 10-member exec board. Sterenberg’s award comes with a $200 award for the PRSSA chapter at Ohio State.
