Congratulations to Ohio State’s student-run newspaper the Lantern for being named the best student newspaper in Ohio. The Lantern received this and other awards in the Ohio News Media Association’s 2021 Osman C. Hooper Non-Daily Newspaper Competition.

The Lantern also received:

• first place in News Coverage, Sports Coverage, Arts and Entertainment, In-Depth Coverage, Best Multi-Media Package and Headline Writing
• second place for Photojournalism
• second place for Best Website
• second place for Design
• third place for Coronavirus Coverage

The Lantern comprises a team of 23 student editors and more than 40 student reporters. The newspaper has been on the frontlines of breaking news, delivering factual, thoughtful journalism to students, staff and faculty, alumni, and parents of Ohio State. In addition, coverage includes university athletics, the Columbus area, local art and music.
