Kraft Supports Ohio Bar Association’s 2022 Media Law Conference

Media Law Conference group

Nicole Kraft, associate professor - clinical,  helped organize the Ohio Bar Association’s 2022 in-person Media Law

Conference on Oct. 4. The conference lasted from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with live seminars and bootcamp sessions for journalists.

Kraft also moderated the panel “A Step Too Far” exploring what happens when media makes mistakes. She guided panelists and the audience through a better understanding of how journalists make decisions utilizing codes of ethics, and what happens when those codes, or laws, are violated.

Four COMM 3404: Media Law and Ethics students joined Kraft at the Media Law Conference. Students were able to meet with prominent attorneys and members of the media to discuss the theory and practice of journalism law.

The event brought lawyers, journalists, and students together to discuss the latest hot topics in media law. The conference touched on national news and what’s happening locally in Ohio. Students left with knowledge from experts on how to navigate and cover the courthouse in practice.
