Nicole Kraft, associate professor of clinical communication, weighed in on the indictment of former meteorologist for WBNS-TV (Columbus Channel 10), Mike Davis. Davis was arrested Sept. 5 for possessing child pornography and indicted Oct. 9 for multiple felonies involving sexually oriented material with minors.

Kraft spoke on the negative impact an event such as this has on loyal TV viewers.

"People watch a channel and have a great deal of allegiance. They may have been watching Channel 10 their whole life, and they’re not just watching Channel 10, they’re watching (anchor) Tracy Townsend,” she said.

The bonds viewers form with local TV news personalities "makes bad news worse for viewers," Ken Gordon of the Columbus Dispatch writes.
