School of Communication Director Professor Kelly Garrett and Associate Professor Robert Bond’s paper, Engagement with fact-checked posts on Reddit, was published in PNAS Nexus. 

Garrett and Bond’s paper explores user engagement with posts eliciting fact-checking comments on Reddit. They look at the diffusion of false versus fact-checked stories across social media platforms. They found that posts eliciting comments that include fact-checks indicating the information is true tend to receive more engagement across a variety of metrics than posts eliciting comments that include fact-checks indicating that the information is false.
