Dixon Featured in Dayton Daily News

Graham Dixon

Dayton Daily News recently featured Assistant Professor Graham Dixon in their article titled "Decision time: Majority of area parents considering COVID shot for their young kids."

Dixon said the COVID-19 vaccine has been politicized like no other vaccine before. Additionally, he said parents are facing extreme amounts of misinformation about coronavirus and the vaccines online.

“Engagement is key,” Dixon said regarding how to relay benefits and risks of vaccines. “Parents rightfully have questions. And a simple poster that tells them it’s safe and effective and free might not be the best approach.”

Dayton Daily News also featured Dixon in another article titled “Area residents grapple with ‘pandemic fatigue’ as Omicron looms.”

Dixon said the pandemic fatigue residents are experiencing is predictable as people feel bombarded with information and helpless to do anything.

“People experience low efficacy when they feel they can’t do anything about an issue or they engage in information avoidance,” he said.

Despite the fatigue, Dixon said it’s important for health leaders to continue to encourage the public to partake in virus spreading preventative measures.
