Columbus Dispatch Article Quotes Nisbet on Climate Change Topic in the Election

Erik Nisbet

Associate professor, Erik Nisbet was quoted in a recent Columbus Dispatch article discussing the unpopular presidential election topic, climate change.

Nisbet suggests because the news media is largely focused on "Trump-centric" coverage and Hillary Clinton's controversies, climate change and many other issues relevant to the campaign receive less coverage in the media. Nisbet goes on to support the idea that climate change is not an urgent issue among voters because it is "distant," and not as immediate as top concerns like the economy, immigration and race relations.

Another point Nisbet makes in the article is climate change has remained a concern among liberals, but conservatives have become uninterested in the topic. This is backed by research that shows 90 percent of Clinton supporters care about global climate change, compared to only about half of Trump supporters.
