School of Communication Professor Osei Appiah was featured in the G&S Business Communication’s blog and its Building Brand Gravity podcast. The episode, Cultivating & Empowering Black Talent in Marcomms with Dr. Osei Appiah, explores building diversity across marketing, communications and advertising, and supporting Black talent. 

Appiah explains the importance of expanding the pipeline of Black talent into agencies and representing Black talent through mentorship and diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives. He stresses the need for cross-group communication to reduce racial prejudice and create interpersonal relationships. 

Following up Appiah's feature, three School of Communication undergraduate students join an episode where they are interviewed. In Journey to a Career in Marketing Communications: Insights from Young Black Professionals, Rikki Lee Joiner, Michaela Matheney and Keilah Thompson discuss specific areas of work that excite them and address the issues of bias in the marketing industry. 

Joiner, Matheney and Thompson are all members of the Black Advertising Strategic Communication Association at Ohio State.
