22 PRSSA Students Network in New York City

PRSSA at CBS

The Public Relations Student Society of America chapter at Ohio State recently traveled to New York City with 22 students. Traveling members networked with professionals from iconic corporations, news organizations and public relations agencies.

PRSSA students visited Madison Square Garden, CBS News, Google, Ketchum, Full Picture and the Fashion Archives. Attendees also visited the Public Relations Society of America headquarters. Smaller student groups held lunches with alumni from Sunshine Sahs and CNN. PRSSA also hosted a networking mixer for local alumni with over 50 attendees.

The trip to NYC was planned by PRSSA President Olivia Cohen, Ally Gozum, Isa Rentería and Audrey Taylor.

“Planning the NYC trip helped me learn about all of the different opportunities available within the PR field by researching potential visits and speakers. Helping with the overall planning process allowed me to go out of my comfort zone and grow by using my networking skills to reach out to public relations professionals I’ve never talked to before," said PRSSA Secretary Ally Gozum.

Students met a variety of professionals in the communication field, furthering their knowledge of the communication industry and expanding their network in the big city.

“The overall trip helped me feel less stressed about what I want to do in the future because I learned that not all career paths are linear and that it’s okay to zigzag between industries and try a little bit of everything,” said Gozum. “The trip also developed my new love for the Big Apple and going on adventures with friends!”
