In March, the Public Relations Student Society of America chapter at Ohio State traveled to New York City with 20 members for their annual spring networking trip. This trip allowed members to network with industry professionals and get a glimpse of public relations at the national level.

Students visited Edelman, AxiCom, IBM, CBS News, Marina Maher Communications (MMC) and RXMOSAIC, FleishmanHillard, Fohr and NBCUniversal.

“The PR industry is highly competitive, yet at the same time there’s a lot of opportunity. But it boils down to who you know,” said Jacqueline Roshetski, a chapter member. “As an overthinker who constantly worries about the future, the NYC trip gave me a sense of calmness and confidence in my ability to network and achieve my career goals. By speaking with professionals, I was reminded that each journey is unique and there is no one size fits all.”

Between programming, students went on coffee chats with industry professionals and Ohio State alumni. The chapter also hosted a mixer for local alumni.

The trip was planned by undergraduate students Danielle Ingram, Brooke Alexander, Kennedy Porter, Audrey Smith and Lindsey Romano.

“Planning the New York trip this semester was a great experience,” said Ingram. “I learned firsthand just how willing Buckeyes are to help other Buckeyes. I got to personally connect to many impressive professionals and make sure our members also got the connections they needed to grow their network.”

Ingram also serves as the member relations director of PRSSA at Ohio State for the 2023-2024 academic year.

In addition to their annual trip to New York City in the spring, the chapter also hosts a networking trip in the fall.

This year, 17 chapter members traveled to Chicago where they visited Reputation Partners, LLC, Big Ten Network, KemperLesnik, Ketchum and FINN Partners.
