Student Receives $1,000 Research Scholar Award

Elizabeth Riggs

Elizabeth Riggs, a double major in Film Studies and Communications Analysis and Practice and research assistant for communication PhD student Courtney Anderegg, received a $1,000 Research Scholar Award from the university’s Undergraduate Research Office for her work on a narrative analysis project. The study used a segmentation approach to divide a feature-length film into meaningful units in order to analyze discontinuities in narrative shifts. The study has implications for how audiences view, comprehend and remember long audiovisual narratives.
