The Lantern Wins National Award from Student Press Law Center

The Lantern, Ohio State's student-run newspaper

Congratulations to The Lantern for receiving a national award from the Student Press Law Center for journalistic integrity and commitment to the First Amendment.

The Lantern was honored for its pursuit of obtaining public records to help break news surrounding the university.

“I think it’s really important, especially today, when journalism has come under attack from a variety of fronts that often surprise us, that the Ohio State community I hope realizes what an extraordinary resource that has in The Lantern,” Nicole Kraft, associate professor of clinical communication who nominated The Lantern for the award, said.

Founded in 1881 and sweeping 138 years to present day, The Lantern's rich tradition of tirelessly serving as the student voice for Ohio State students, faculty, staff, alumni and other community members remains unchanged.
