Alumnus Jeffrey Logan Receives Ralph Davenport Mershon Award

Jeff Logan with Alumni Association Award

School of Communication alumnus and former Ohio State football player, Jeffrey Logan was recently honored by the Alumni Association and awarded the Ralph Davenport Mershon Award. This award is presented to an alumnus who has demonstrated exceptional leadership and service to The Ohio State University.

“I was shocked,” Logan said. “I’m always blown away when I read about some of the [recipients] and some of their accomplishments, so to be included in this was a little humbling.”

Currently, Logan is the managing sales director and financial planner at Lighthouse Wealth Solutions in Dublin, Ohio.  In addition, he serves on the Board of Trustees for the Logan Family Foundation, a nonprofit organization that raises funds to assist families and children in local communities. It has given over $300,000 to various beneficiaries in its first decade of service.

Logan has served on the selection committee for Ohio State football coaches and has been the emcee for the Ohio State Athletics Hall of Fame induction banquet for over 20 years. Logan also represents the Varsity O Alumni Association, an honor he has held for 12 years.

Logan jokingly said his favorite memory from his undergraduate years at Ohio State is beating Michigan. He continued by saying academically, his most memorable opportunity at Ohio State was being able to work with Walt Seifert, a public relations professor. Seifert was at the cutting edge of public relations when it began to gain traction. Logan said Seifert was a great mentor and it was amazing to be able to learn from a great pioneer of the field.
